Stepping Forward to Serve

Catholic Life Sixth Form

This week marked an important and inspiring moment in the life of the school, as some of our Year 12 boys stepped forward in service, taking part in the hustings for the roles of Head Boy and Deputy Head Boys for the academic year 2026–2027.

In keeping with our vision of forming great men, several thoughtful, courageous, and committed young men put themselves forward for these significant positions of leadership. Each candidate demonstrated not only ambition but a genuine desire to serve the school community with integrity, humility, and purpose.

On Thursday morning, candidates presented to their peers, articulating their values, ideas, and aspirations for the school year ahead. Later that day, they addressed staff during an after-school hustings session, engaging thoughtfully with questions and reflecting maturity, confidence, and respect throughout. These moments provided a valuable opportunity for the boys to demonstrate their character, communication skills, and readiness to lead.

The process will continue next week as candidates meet with members of the governing body for an interview. This important stage allows for further reflection and discernment, ensuring that those appointed are well-equipped to represent the school and embody its ethos.

Regardless of the outcome, all who have stood deserve recognition and gratitude. To put oneself forward in this way requires courage and a willingness to be accountable to others—qualities that lie at the heart of true leadership. In doing so, these young men have already shown what it means to lead by example.

We look forward to the next stage of the process and, in due course, to announcing the boys who will take on these vital roles. Above all, we celebrate a year group that continues to live out our mission of forming great men through service, integrity, and leadership.
