St Cuthbert’s was proud to host a vibrant and inspiring Sixth Form Culture Day, an event entirely planned and led by our Sixth Form students.

The day was a celebration of the rich diversity within our school community and across the city of Newcastle. Students arrived in traditional dress, proudly showcasing their heritage, and brought with them food, artefacts and displays that reflected their cultural backgrounds. The Common Room was transformed into a lively and colourful space, filled with music, conversation and shared experiences.

Cultures represented on the day included Nigerian, Maltese, Portuguese, Afghanistani, Indian, Brazilian, Kurdish, Pakistani, Filipino, Bangladeshi and of course, British. Each stall offered something unique, giving students the opportunity to learn about different traditions, languages and ways of life.

Throughout the day, Year 7 pupils were invited to visit the Common Room, where they engaged enthusiastically with the Sixth Form students. They asked questions, sampled food and gained a deeper understanding of the diverse cultures that make up our school community.

Newcastle is a city enriched by its diversity, and this was reflected powerfully at St Cuthbert’s. What stood out most was the sense of unity – despite the wide range of backgrounds represented, our students came together as one brotherhood, demonstrating respect, curiosity and pride in one another.

A huge congratulations goes to our Sixth Form students for organising such a meaningful and successful event. Their leadership, creativity and commitment made the day a truly memorable celebration of culture, community and belonging.
