The Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust comprises five Members. The Members are accountable to the DfE and have ultimate responsibility for the Trust achieving its charitable objectives. They sign off the Articles of Association and have the power to appoint and remove the Directors. The Members include representatives from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Newcastle and Hexham. The majority of the Members are independent of the Directors to provide challenge and scrutiny to the Board.

​The ultimate responsibility for the running of St Cuthbert's Catholic High School resides with the Directors of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust. They set the strategic direction for the Trust and are accountable to the Secretary of State for the performance of the schools within it. This is set out in a legal document known as the ‘funding agreement‘

The Trustees have overall responsibility for all schools in the Trust. However, the scheme of delegation, The Local Governing Committee (Governors) provides guidance and support to the Headmaster, Business Manager and Leadership Team who are responsible for the day-to-day running of the school. The Local Governing Committee meets each half-term. The Local Governing Committee is responsible for the school’s policies.

The Local Governing Committee meets at least five times in an academic year. There is one full committee meeting each half-term apart from in the first half of the Easter Term.
