
The Year 9 football team completed a remarkable treble-winning season with a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Durham Johnston in the TSSSA Cup Final on 13 May 2026.
Facing a Durham Johnston side chasing an impressive quadruple of trophies, the match promised to be a fiercely competitive contest and it did not disappoint. The first half was a tight, disciplined affair and the score remained 0–0 at the break
The second half saw a transformed performance. Playing with confidence and control, the team began to assert themselves and took their chances brilliantly. Goals from Joseph, Charlie and Oliver gave St Cuthbert's a commanding 3–0 lead and appeared to put the result beyond doubt.
However, Durham Johnston mounted a late comeback, scoring twice to set up a tense finish. Despite the late pressure, the Year 9 team held their nerve to secure a 3–2 victory and seal a memorable win.
Speaking after the match, Mr Colligan praised the squad’s effort and character:
