Year 10 pupils from St Cuthbert’s recently took part in their second work experience visit, travelling to Northumberland Skills in Blyth to learn more about the rapidly growing energy sector in the North East.
During the visit, pupils discovered how industries such as offshore wind and renewable energy are creating exciting new career opportunities across the region. They also learned about the different pathways into engineering and technical roles within the sector.
As part of the experience, pupils had the opportunity to get hands-on in the workshop, trying their skills at welding and fabrication under expert guidance. This practical activity gave them a valuable insight into the skills and training required for careers in this expanding industry.
The visit forms part of the school’s wider programme to help young people explore the many opportunities available within the region’s future workforce.
