Fifteen excited pupils from St Cuthbert’s High School returned last week from an unforgettable adventure in the French Alps, where they spent seven days exploring Les 3 Vallées—the largest ski resort in the world and home to the globally renowned Val Thorens.
This year’s group brought together a fantastic mix of returning skiers from the 2025 trip and enthusiastic first‑timers. Despite varying levels of experience, every pupil made outstanding progress throughout the week, thanks in no small part to the expertise and encouragement of their ESF ski instructors, Teo and Leone.
A Week of Skill, Snow, and Success
Under clear alpine skies, pupils developed their confidence and technique on the slopes, steadily building towards their final assessments. By the end of the trip, every single participant achieved either their Level 1 or Level 2 ESF ski badge—a remarkable accomplishment that speaks to their hard work and determination.
The Level 2 group enjoyed a special highlight of the week: the chance to tackle the iconic black run on Pointe de la Masse. This challenging descent not only tested their skills but rewarded them with spectacular panoramic views of Mont Blanc, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
A Trip to Remember
From first-day nerves to final-day triumphs, the 2026 St Cuthbert’s Ski Trip was filled with laughter, teamwork, and achievement. Teachers praised the students for their positive attitude and willingness to push themselves, noting that both beginners and seasoned skiers embraced every challenge the mountains offered.
The school looks forward to building on the success of this year’s adventure as excitement already begins to grow for the 2027 trip.
