Applying to Sixth Form
A key aspect of the application process is receiving appropriate advice and guidance.
Sixth Form Open Night – a chance to find out about the courses that are available and what they are like. You will also have the chance to discuss your future with a wide range of staff and current Sixth Form students.
Applying – Current Students
Advice and Guidance interviews – November. All year 11s are interviewed and given a chance to discuss their plans for the following year. This is your chance to apply to Sixth Form formally and to give us an idea of which subjects you want to study and why.
Year 12 Induction – June/July - all prospective Year 12 students are invited into school to attend induction; it is a requirement that they attend. During induction students will have a chance to attend taster lessons in all subjects. They will also have an opportunity to change their course choices from the decisions made in the November interviews. Additionally, they will have an interview with a senior member of staff to discuss their suitability for attending St Cuthbert's Sixth Form.
Post GCSE results interview – all prospective Year 12 students will have a further interview following their GCSE results. This is to check that students are on the appropriate courses and to offer any further advice and guidance on selecting the right courses.
Applying – External Applicants
External applicants – external applicants will be interviewed separately, before and after GCSE results, by the Head of Sixth Form.
Application forms are available from school.
External applicants are welcome to attend the Open Night and the Induction Day.
